Saturn in the
Spotlight! (November/December.)
Out of all
the planets in the sky, Saturn always seems to stir the
most enthusiasm. At opposition in October, Saturn rises
in the east in the
constellation of Pisces. Starting in mid October you can
see Saturn all
night long for about a month. Saturn is in the spotlight
for the NASA
community as well. The launching of the Cassini
spacecraft on October the
6th is the largest undertaking that Nasa has put
together. This
international spacecraft has seven years before
rendezvous with Saturn.
Saturn, almost a billion miles away from the Sun, can be
viewed with even
the most modest of telescopes. Larger telescopes can even
glimpse storms on
the planet. See what you can view of the mystical planet
that has captured
the imagination of countness people!!
